Langkawi, 3 December 2009: Composites Technology Research Malaysia Sdn Bhd (CTRM) is partnering a leading local university, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) for collaboration on the development of the local Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV).
CTRM is recognised as the pioneer in the development of National UAV and as Malaysian Unmanned System. Its subsidiary, Unmanned Systems Technology (UST) has been tasked to design, manufacture and market the UAV for local and regional markets. Currently our local UAV is in service with the Markas Angkatan Bersama (MAB).
According too Datuk Rosdi Mahmud, Chief Executive Officer of CTRM, the partnership will see both parties to collaborate on the technological development of the UAV. This is vital, as we have to compete with established brand name and foreign makes with proven track records in the UAV market.
He adds that with this collaboration, both parties will identify the technological area, which required further development for market’s future needs. The partnership will also identify the existing opportunity for various UAV applications, such as Homeland Security and Environmental Monitoring.
The signing ceremony is significantly organised in conjunction with LIMA 2009 at Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre. En Mohamad Khalizi Abdul Razak, Head of Company, Unmanned Systems Technology represents CTRM, while Professor Dr. Marzuki Khalid represents UTM. YAB Deputy Minister, Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Muhyiddin Yassin witnessed the ceremony.
