Langkawi, 3 December 2009: Composites Technology Research Malaysia Sdn Bhd (CTRM) and QinetiQ of Australia have signed a joint agreement with the Malaysia State Aircraft Operator (MSAO) to establish CTRM as an Authorised Engineering Organisation (AEO).
The agreement is a result of a long and tedious effort by CTRM to establish itself to be an AEO.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of CTRM, Datuk Rosdi Mahmud, CTRM has been trying to provide the Design and Engineering Management Services to MSAO for quite sometimes. However, to be able to do that, CTRM must prove its capability and capacity to undertake such responsibilities to the Technical Airworthiness Authority (TAA).
He adds that with the assistance from QinetiQ, CTRM is a step closer to be the first commercial AEO in Malaysia. QinetiQ is the AEO for the Royal Australian Defence Forces, equipped with technology, capability and capacity required by the TAA. With this arrangement, QinetiQ will provide the necessary assistance to establish CTRM as an AEO for the MSAO.
The signing of contract is organised in conjunction with LIMA 2009. CTRM and QinetiQ are represented by Datuk Rosdi Mahmud and Mr Malcolm Campbell respectively, while the MSAO is represented by the Royal Malaysian Air Force Chief, Y Bhg General Dato’ Sri Rodzali Daud. YAB Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Muhyiddin Yassin, witnesses the ceremony.
