Cyberjaya, 5 February 2010: Composites Technology Research Malaysia Sdn Bhd (CTRM) was honoured with the Aerospace R&D Vendor of the Year award at the recent 2010 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Aerospace & Defense Awards. The award ceremony was held in conjunction with Singapore International Air Show 2010.
CEO of CTRM, Datuk Rosdi Mahmud received the award at Crown Plaza Hotel, Changi Airport, Singapore. The award was another milestone for CTRM after being conferred the Goodrich’s Strategic Supplier Award October last year.
According to Datuk Rosdi, CTRM has always been innovative in developing new technology or manufacturing processes in ensuring the company to remain competitive and relevant to the global market.
He also adds that since technology is moving at a very rapid manner, whatever is considered a new and advanced technology today can be rendered as obsolete in one or two years. Composites manufacturing is a high-tech based industry with a fast-paced growth and to remain stagnant with just traditional processes will make any player in this industry obsolete and not relevant in any time.
“With constant research and development effort in the complex world of aerospace and composite materials, CTRM has been able to supply tailor made solutions and maintain its visibility in the global supply chain. Their forward-thinking processes ensure that their clients will always be complemented with state of the art technologies, products, and services,” says Nuriman Abd Malik, Research Associate for Frost & Sullivan’s Asia Pacific Aerospace & Defense Practice.
Through strategic partnerships with major industry players such as Goodrich Aerostructures and Spirit AeroSystems, CTRM is indeed soaring to greater heights and lengths in gearing up for excellence and quality. Both partners have also proved their utmost determination in strategically assisting CTRM with new and latest manufacturing process, especially in Lean Manufacturing.
This is in accordance with the Government development strategies as outlined in the National Aerospace Blueprint. Moving forward, CTRM is collaborating with the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) and other relevant industry players in strengthening their design capabilities as well as technology enhancement programme.
From a humble beginning with the production of Eagle 150B, CTRM is now a part of a global supply chain in composites aerospace components with excellent track records of supplying and manufacturing composites aerospace components for Airbus A320, A380, A350XWB Boeing 787, Boeing 737, Boeing 777 and Airbus A400M.
With a current book order valued at RM8.5 billion, CTRM is expecting to secure another RM2 billion worth of contract and gain RM390 million in revenue by the end of 2010.
