Langkawi, 3 December 2009: Composites Technology Research Malaysia Sdn Bhd (CTRM) and Composites Testing Laboratory Tastail Teo (CTL) of Ireland have entered into an agreement to collaborate in commercialising the composites testing in the region.
With this agreement, a new Joint Venture (JV) Company, Composites Testing Laboratory Asia Sdn Bhd (CTLA) will be set up to undertake commercial composites testing. The new company will operate from CTRM facilities in Batu Berendam, Melaka.
According to Datuk Rosdi Mahmud, Chief Executive Officer of CTRM, CTLA will provide a fast, flexible, cost competitive and highest quality of testing services to its clients. It is imperative for the company to offer a competitive cost compared to other testing labs in Europe and Asia.
He adds that the composites testing market is growing in this region. This is due to the fact that major aircraft manufacturers such as Airbus, Boeing and even Bombardier are sub-contracting the composites manufacturing jobs to this region. The company is targeted to achieve revenue of approximately RM51 million over 5 years of its operation.
The new company will be operating in the first quarter of 2010 after it has received all the accreditations and qualification for its test lab. CTL, an independent testing lab, which holds the ISO 17205 qualifications, will provide its guidance and assistance to Composites Testing Asia in achieving the required qualifications.
