Melaka, 7 November 2008:Composites Technology Research Malaysia Sdn Bhd (CTRM) through its subsidiary, CTRM Aero Composites Sdn.Bhd. sealed an agreement with EADS Deutschland GmbH from Germany. The new contract is to manufacture and supply Inboard Inner Fixed Leading Edge (IIFLE) D-Nose CFC Lower Panel composites aero structures for the Airbus A380 aircraft.
CTRM is manufacturing and supplying composites aero structures for major aircraft types since 2000. Major customers include Airbus UK, Spirit AeroSystems, Goodrich, EADS CASA, GKN Aerospace and SONACA.
“We have been manufacturing and supplying various composites aero structures for the aircraft through our existing customers, and most of these structures are single sourced to CTRM. We believe in being the preferred partner of choice for our customers and we have proven our capability through Quality, Cost and Delivery”, says CTRM CEO, Datuk Rosdi Mahmud.
CTRM has been involved in the Airbus A380 programme since 2003. It is the first Asian partner selected to design, manufacture and supply the Fixed Leading Edge Lower Panels (FLELP) for Airbus UK and to manufacture and supply the Inboard Outer Fixed Leading Edge IOFLE for Spirit AeroSystems.
“EADS Deutschland GmbH is a new addition to our list of reputable partners in the aero structures industry and this contract is the first contract and the first working programme awarded by them to us. We feel honoured to be recognised as a partner for such an established company” continues Rosdi.
CTRM is on the right track to meet its targeted revenue of RM 250 million for 2008. The new contract is expected to boost the projected revenue for CTRM in 2009 onwards. The contract is for the life of the aircraft and the projected value of the contract up until 2015 is at RM100 million (USD28.3 million).
“This is indeed a boost to our performance and in line with our plan to be listed on Bursa Malaysia by 2010”, he adds.
Y Bhg Datuk Rosdi Mahmud and En Nor Azham Baharin, General Manager of CTRM Aero Composites signed the contract on behalf of CTRM, while Dr Gerd Berchtold, and Mr Reiner Thomas represent EADS Deutschland GmbH.
The first delivery of the IIFLE D-Nose CFC Lower Panel for the Airbus A380 is expected by middle of 2009.
