Melaka, 20 February 2009: CTRM Composites Engineering (CTRM CE) has relocated to a new manufacturing facility at Bukit Rambai. The move is a part of its new business direction and growth plans, which is focusing on the manufacturing of high-end composites applications for all market segments.
Its business activities will be a mixture of high commercial value, long-term and high prospective value of contracts.
“In its early years, CTRM CE was concentrating on the automotive segment through a collaboration with Lotus Cars UK. But now we can move forward and expand our business beyond that,” says its CEO, Datuk Rosdi Mahmud.
CTRM CE is involved in the development of our National Tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Project (TUAV) by supplying the composites airframe for ALUDRA. On top of that it has also completed the manufacturing of 342 composites RADOME panels for the RMAF.
The new facility with 78,000 sq. ft. of space is a perfect venue for CTRM CE to execute all its planned business activities. It will maintain its open moulding wet lay-up coupled with new spray lay-up technique in its manufacturing process.
“This method will support the boat building process, manufacturing of composites panels for RADOME, Monorail and other future projects”, adds Datuk Rosdi.
Last December, CTRM CE secured a three-year contract with LeisureCat Malaysia to manufacture a combined 300 catamaran vessels of six and eight meters. It was the first marine contract awarded to CTRM CE in particular and to CTRM Group of Companies in general.
In its effort to fulfil its obligation to the contract, CTRM CE has sent 16 of its technicians for production training with LeisureCat Malaysia. The training started last December and just recently concluded their training.
For their efforts and sacrifices, these 16 technicians are presented with Certificate of Production Training during the CTRM CE Plant Official Opening Ceremony.
