Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia (DCA) today
has awarded CTRM Aviation Sdn Bhd (CTRM AV) with Approved
Maintenance Organisation Certificate (JAR 145) at
Mahsuri International Exhibition Hall in conjunction
with LIMA ’07.
CTRM AV is a subsidiary of Composites Technology
Research Malaysia Sdn Bhd (CTRM), involves in manufacturing
of light aircrafts at its facilities in Batu Berendam,
Melaka in the early 1990’s. As a light aircraft
manufacturer, it has been certified with various
authorities in General Aviation such Civil Aviation
and Safety Authority of Australia, Federal Aviation
Authority of the United States of America (FAA),
Thailand, New Zealand and Malaysian authorities.
After venturing in light aircrafts leasing business,
CTRM AV begins to focus in providing servicing,
maintenance and repair to the leased aircrafts.
“Maintenance and repairing of light aircrafts,
especially of those we leased to flying clubs and
individual customers have become our 2nd core business,
apart from manufacturing the aircrafts itself,”
said Y Bhg Datuk Rosdi Bin Mahmud, Chief Executive
Officer, CTRM Sdn Bhd.
Sensing the boost in aviation industry in the region
and coupled with recognition from Department of
Civil Aviation Malaysia (DCA) as an Approved Maintenance
Organisation for General Aviation in August 2007,
CTRM AV is making a bold move of becoming the premier
Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) centre for
General Aviation in the region.
“Currently, CTRM AV is the only Approved
Maintenance Organisation to conduct structural composites
repair to General Aviation in the region whilst
maintaining stringent quality management system
based on its qualifications and capabilities,”
adds Datuk Rosdi.
CTRM AV will emerge as a one-stop MRO centre for
light aircraft and the General Aviation, industry
observers an estimated business value saving of
RM 335 million for light aircrafts maintenance and
repair intended for the overseas market every year.
The Director General of Civil Aviation Malaysia
(DCA), Y Bhg Dato’ Azharuddin A. Rahman
presented the Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul certificate
to Y Bhg Datuk Rosdi Mahmud, Chief Executive
Officer, CTRM and witnessed by YAB
Dato’ Seri Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak,
Deputy Prime Minister.
CTRM AV has put in place its expansion plans in
the future to not only providing MRO for the piston
engine light aircrafts of Eagle and Piper, but also
for business jets, thus making CTRM AV the only
Approved Maintenance Organisation in General Aviation
with capabilities in providing MRO services to both
light aircrafts and business jets in the region.
