Langkawi, 5 December 2007:
CTRM Aero Composites Sdn Bhd (CTRM AC) is inking an
agreement with EADS CASA to manufacture composites
aero components for the new 21st century air lifter,
the Airbus A 400M. EADS CASA is the key 1st Tier supplier
to Airbus industries.
The agreement is a continuation of a fruitful cooperation
between CTRM AC, a subsidiary of Composites Technology
Research Malaysia Sdn Bhd (CTRM) with Airbus and
its partners.
Currently CTRM, through CTRM AC is the only Asian
company that involved in the manufacturing programme
of Airbus A 380, the biggest commercial aircraft
ever manufactured in the history of aviation.
“The Airbus A 400M programme is new to us
as it involves in the manufacturing of a new generation
of military air lifter in 21st century. The sole
purpose of this programme is to replace the ageing
fleet is to replace the ageing fleet of C-130 and
C-160”, says Y Bhg. Datuk Rosdi bin Mahmud,
Chief Executive of CTRM.
The signing took place in conjunction with Langkawi
International Aerospace and Maritime Exhibition
(LIMA 2007) in Langkawi. Y Bhg Datuk Rosdi
bin Mahmud represents CTRM AC for the signing
ceremony, while Mr Antonio Rodriguez Barberan,
Vice President of Sales, represents EADS CASA. The
ceremony is witnessed by YAB Dato’
Seri Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak, Deputy Prime Minister.
“This contract serves as a testimonial for
CTRM capability and ability in manufacturing the
composites aero components for both military and
commercial purposes”, adds Datuk Rosdi Mahmud.
Malaysia is one of the participants in the Airbus
A 400M programme when Ministry of Defence agreed
to purchase 4 units of Airbus A 400M military air
lifter to replace its ageing C-130s in service with
the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF).
Currently CTRM AC is in the process of manufacturing
VTP Trailing Edge, HTP Trailing Edge and VTP Leading
Edge for EADS CASA for the A 400M programme and
5 aircrafts set of these items has been delivered
to EADS CASA.
The programme will last until 2021 with estimated
of the new Airbus A 400M to be first delivered to
its customers in 2009.
